Met Releases Russell Brand Police Interview Clips After Rape Conviction

London's Metropolitan Police have released footage of Russell Brand being questioned between 2023 and 2025, days after a jury convicted him of rape and sexual assault. The clips, published on Thursday, offer a rare look at how the comedian responded to detectives while the allegations were still untested in court and before any verdict.

In the interviews Brand admitted to a very promiscuous life but insisted he had never engaged in any non-consensual sexual activity. He also dismissed a 2023 documentary about the claims as defamatory and fictitious. Those denials now sit alongside a verdict finding him guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

The jury acquitted him on two further rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault. Brand was refused bail and will stay in custody until sentencing, which is due on Monday. The release of the footage adds fresh public scrutiny to a case that has already dominated British entertainment headlines this week.
