Fox Completes Its $22 Billion Acquisition of Roku

Fox is now officially a streaming-platform owner. TechCrunch reports the company has closed its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, and says the combined business is the third-largest television business in the United States by viewership. That scale gives the combined company a much stronger position in the competitive battle for living-room screens and advertising dollars.

The deal gives Fox access to Roku's more than 100 million households, which it expects will improve advertising targeting and reduce its reliance on traditional TV distribution. For viewers, that could mean more tightly connected content and advertising across Roku's home screen and Fox's channels. That is a major strategic shift for the company.

The deal closed well ahead of the first-half 2027 projection, just two months after the Department of Justice issued its second request for information. That speed will surprise many in the industry, and it will be watched closely by other media and technology companies weighing similar large mergers of their own.
