Anthropic's Claude Gets Personal Finance Tool Linking Bank Accounts
Anthropic has launched a Personal Finance tool for Claude that lets users link bank and credit card accounts through Plaid and ask questions about their money. The company says the feature is strictly read-only, so Claude cannot move, manage or invest funds, only analyse what it is allowed to see.
Claude totals spending and sorts it into categories such as housing, food and shopping, and flags duplicate charges, surprise fees and bills that keep rising. It can see account names and types, the last four digits of account numbers, balances, credit limits and up to two full years of past transactions.
Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models. The beta rolls out this week to US Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers, following OpenAI's ChatGPT personal finance tools introduced in May. The launch signals AI assistants moving much deeper into everyday money management and sensitive personal data.
