Life Raft From Missing Boat Kilda Found Off Shetland Coast

Police have confirmed that a life raft from the missing fishing boat Kilda came ashore at West Burrafirth in Shetland on Thursday. Two men, Norman Tam Murray, 40, and Murdo Morrison, 23, are still missing, and the search for them and the vessel continues in the waters off the Scottish coast.

The Kilda was last seen near the Port of Ness in north Lewis on October 13. Douglas Craigie, who was also aboard, was found dead in the sea area on the morning of October 14. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch is carrying out a preliminary assessment of the loss of the fishing boat.

Police are working with the investigators and other partners in a bid to locate the vessel and the two missing men. The discovery of the life raft is a significant development for families and the fishing communities of the islands, who have waited weeks for news since the boat disappeared in mid-October.
